Since 2002, Ruiz Brothers Construction has been at the forefront of constructing LEED buildings. Ruiz Brothers takes pride in having built the 1st LEED certified multi-family project in the United States. Since then, RBC has completed multiple projects that have LEED qualifications. Colorado Court was finished in 2002. This beautiful building has solar panels on the roof as well as on facade of the building. Four blocks from the beach and facing west makes it an ideal property to have solar panels on the facade. The energy consumed by this building will be 100% supplied by its photovoltaic system, making Colorado Court 100% energy neutral. Colorado Court is LEED certified on the Gold level. Morgan Place was completed in 2009. The building has a photovoltaic system placed on the roof. These solar panels will produce 75% of the energy consumed by the common areas of the building. The energy efficiency concept went throughout the entire building. Starting with the installation of a Kone elevator, all the way to the water sense plumbing fixtures. Not to forget the skylights and lighting controls throughout the entire building also helped in the conservation of energy. Morgan Place is in the process of becoming certified. Once it does it will be in the Silver level. Step Up on Fifth was also completed in 2009. The owner of Step Up on Fifth is also in the process of getting the building certified. Once it does become certified it will be in the Silver level. Step Up was designed to take advantage of the ocean breeze by maximizing natural ventilation. The overall project achieved more than a 75% recycling rate. |
